Corey Huey

Corey leads Alliant's Emerging Technology Practice, bringing deep expertise in complex risk management for cutting-edge technologies. His specialties include high-performance computing data center construction, emerging power developments (including nuclear SMR technology and renewable energy), AI and machine learning scaling, and digital asset strategies. He develops comprehensive risk programs for edge computing solutions, AI infrastructure, Web3 initiatives, blockchain, and cryptocurrency ventures.
With experience in cyber/technology and construction risk management since 2016, Corey brings a unique perspective shaped by his military service. As a US Navy veteran who worked alongside the Marine Corps, he led advanced security operations protecting Department of Defense and Department of Energy assets. His post-military experience in offshore and onshore crane rigging within heavy industrial environments honed his ability to identify, assess, and manage risk from both operational and strategic perspectives.
Corey holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and earned his Master of Jurisprudence in Cyber Security Risk Management from Texas A&M University School of Law, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
In addition to his primary role, Corey has found great value in consulting and advising Legacy Power Capital, a firm bringing a fresh, innovative approach to real estate with a focus on emerging technology trends in new power development and high-performance computing data centers. His contributions include identifying and assessing risks for potential projects while leveraging his extensive professional network to enhance Legacy Power Capital's team, opportunities, and capabilities.
Michael McLaughlin

Michael G. McLaughlin, JD, serves as Legal Counsel and Director of Government Relations for Legacy Power Capital, LLC. Michael is an industry leader in navigating the legal complexities at the intersection of advanced technologies, risk management, and national security. Michael co-chairs the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice Group for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC, where he leads a team of over 50 attorneys and security professionals in addressing the challenges posed by emerging technologies and evolving regulatory landscapes.
Michael's extensive background in national security includes 15 years as a counterintelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, with roles such as Senior Counterintelligence Advisor for U.S. Cyber Command and Chief of Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence for the Cyber National Mission Force. His military experience involved advising global technology enterprises and leading efforts to solve complex national security challenges. Michael continues to work closely with the federal government to advise clients on opportunities in government contracts, grants, and appropriations.
In addition to his legal practice, Michael served as a cyber policy research affiliate at the University of Maryland's Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security, where he advised on the integration of advanced technologies in national defense.
Michael is a prominent public speaker on legal, technology, and national security topics and is the author of the best-selling Battlefield Cyber: How China and Russia are Undermining our Democracy and National Security. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy and a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Cybersecurity and Crisis Management from the University of Maryland School of Law.

Rob Walther is a seasoned technology executive with over 30 years of experience designing, building, and leading IT infrastructure and operations for global enterprises. Over the past 8 years, Rob focused his career on running large Bitcoin mining operations and power site developments. His specializations include cryptocurrency mining, data center design, power systems, networking, security, hosting, reporting, trading and financial systems. Rob has also established a strong global network of connections in the power equipment and bitcoin mining industries. Rob is now using this deep experience and network of connections to support Legacy Power Capital to develop the most efficient, profitable and professional power sites and Bitcoin mining sites worldwide.
Seth Steppe

Seth’s interpersonal skills have served him well in establishing strategic connections with professionals in politics, government relations, and economic development. In 2019 Seth launched Green Light Rural Development to push investment from the east and west coasts into the rural south for economic development. These projects included public private partnerships as well as higher education initiatives centered around rural job growth.
Through his wide array of contacts throughout the country, Seth recruits landowners interested in Data Center projects into the Legacy portfolio as well as organizations that are interested in providing private capital to fund projects.
John Marek

John Marek earned a Juris Doctorate and a master’s in political science from the University of Memphis in 2011, and he was licensed to practice law in Tennessee in 2012. John has since worn several hats from congressional campaign manager to attorney to CEO. As a campaign manager, John helped re-elect Memphis’ congressman in 2012 and 2014. As an attorney, he went from defending the City of Memphis to starting his own criminal defense practice. Through his time as CEO of a mid-sized Colorado company, John’s legal focus shifted more into business and contract law, where his company was able to represent a well-known national brand.
The threads John’s various fields of experience share are a need for constant networking and an ability to communicate clearly. John’s existing network and unique industry experience in Colorado present a good target audience for the needs of Legacy Power Capital.
Bart Hannaman

Mr. Hannaman is the President of J H Operating and a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering and Business Administration. During the company's fast-paced transition from appraisal to field development, he started his career with ConocoPhillips as the primary Production Engineer in the Eagle Ford. He was responsible for well and artificial lift design and significantly influenced the field’s surface infrastructure strategy. He then took a leadership role in Integrated Operations and relocated to Montana. The team was focused on business process improvements, artificial lift optimization, and big data analytics.
Mr. Hannaman started J H to realize his vision of business ownership, where he could be technically close to the action while developing deep and lasting relationships in the industry. He enjoys the challenge and excitement of helping others tackle their challenges while pursuing their dreams. He moved the headquarters to Baton Rouge, LA, where there is excellent access to talented petrochemical professionals. He has diligently grown and enhanced various facets of the business, instilling a culture of client service through embodying the Company’s core values of extreme ownership, ultra transparency, and crazy efficiency.
Brenden Simpson

Brenden Simpson is an entrepreneur and business analyst passionate about creating value through strategic ventures. He co-founded CB Productions, a media company specializing in full-cycle video production for clients including churches, schools, and sports organizations—refining his skills in creative direction, client relations, and brand development. He also launched B&B Power Washing and led Camp Sambre, gaining experience in team leadership and grassroots marketing.
Brenden is pursuing a B.A. in Economics with a Business minor at The University of Texas at Austin. He is a co-founder of the Business Finance Club, a member of TVG Sandbox, and actively involved with the McCombs Real Estate Center, where he continues to deepen his expertise in finance, market analysis, and venture strategy.
He currently works as an Analyst at Legacy Power Capital, where he assesses development site feasibility nationwide. Brenden brings analytical precision and entrepreneurial insight to LPC’s mission of advancing real estate, infrastructure, and energy projects.
Austin Simpson

Austin Simpson is a focused and analytically minded student at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is pursuing a major in Urban Studies with minors in Business and Real Estate. Through his academic studies, he has built a strong foundation in spatial analysis, land use strategy, and real estate development—skills that directly inform his professional work.
While completing his degree, Austin remains actively committed to his role at Legacy Power Capital (LPC), where he contributes to the development of power infrastructure projects across the United States. He leads land feasibility evaluations, conducts detailed site research, and assesses strategic opportunities for energy deployment. His work spans regulatory review, utility access analysis, and the identification of tax and economic incentives—bridging urban planning principles with private investment strategies.
Austin approaches his work with a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by both academic training and practical experience. He is particularly focused on how grid demand, policy frameworks, and capital planning intersect in siting and scaling energy projects. Outside of LPC, he is an active member of UT Austin’s Real Estate Center—one of the most prominent academic real estate programs in the country—and maintains a strong interest in infrastructure finance, energy markets, and emerging investment opportunities across the technology and resource sectors.
Cole Tompkins

Cole Tompkins, Director of Marketing for Legacy Power Capital, brings extensive experience in digital content strategy and communications. Formerly the Assistant Director of Digital Content for Graduate Professional Education at Baylor University, Cole oversaw content creation, social media management, and website updates using Drupal. He successfully launched social media platforms for Professional Education and Extended Learning, engaging a growing audience, and provided marketing support across several of Baylor’s colleges and schools.
Prior to his time with Baylor, Cole was the Outreach Director at CASA of McLennan County, where he exceeded recruiting goals and coordinated fundraising. He also served as a Student Photographer for Baylor University Athletic Communications, covering major athletic events including the 2021 Football Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl. Cole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism-Public Relations from Baylor University.
